Some survivors of incessant rains that have had their houses falling in Chilipa, and Mbera were all smiles when a Balaka business lady Mercy Dossa offered them clothes and blankets to see them through.

Agnes Siyati Ali a 58 year old of Sub Traditional Authority Mbera told us she now lives with her daughter in a family of 14 members after several houses fall down simultaneously following Tropical Cyclone Freddy leaving them stranded without food and basic necessities.

"We were in the house when the houses started falling. We ran to safer places as I am now living with my daughter whose house was spared," said Ali.

Ali appealed for food saying her maize field has been washed off.

Dossa while addressing the survivors said she was touched when she heard about their situation which made her move in to support with the little she had.

She has since appealed to other well wishers that as they are helping somewhere in a likewise cause they should also remember people of Balaka as Councillor Pharaoh Kambiri who is also the council Chairperson decried that much of the crop fields have been washed off.
