ADMARC Staff Work for Eight Months Without Pay

The Agricultural Development Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) staff has expressed worry over failure by the grain trader to pay them eight month salaries.

The employees say they worked from 1 September 2022 to 1 January 2023 as a skeleton team after the company's shut down, but they did not receive the K10, 000-per-day dues, including another four months salaries for a contract from 1 February to April 2023, to oversee the transition of the company.

"We are currently facing with economic pains as we are unable to pay rent, school fees for their children and buy food, among others. Some of us were posted in far places, so life is hard," one of the employees worried.

They claim that they have been trying to meet authorities on the matter, but to no avail.

However, in a written response, ADMARC spokesperson, Agnes Chikoko Ndovi has told Zodiak Thursday that she could only comment on the contract staff salary delays, whose issue was about the funds which has now been resolved.

Ndovi has thus assured the employees that "for the contract staff, the February salaries will be paid from this Thursday while for March and April next week".

The statutory corporation, ADMARC has been sailing through troubled waters for some time, but recently Parliament allocated it K4 billion for recapitalization.
