11 Suspected Armed Robbers Arrested in Blantyre

Police in the South East Region have foiled an armed robbery attempt and arrested 11 suspects at a graveyard in Bangwe, Blantyre who wanted to attack a businessman.
The Region's police spokesperson, Edward Kabango said police had gathered information that a group of robbers were planning to attack a businessperson at Bangwe before proceeding to Nsanje where they allegedly wanted to rob another businessperson.
 
Kabango said following that "the officers hid at the graveyard where the suspects agreed to meet to carry out the attack and they arrested one, Steven Hopeson Galima, 35,  from Mitengo village in the area of Traditional Authority Mchiramwera in Thyolo". 
 
He added that the other robbers were then ambushed and the police managed to recover offensive weapons like axes, panga knives, crowbars, hammers and screw drivers.
 
He further alleged that the suspects have since confessed to be behind recent spate of robberies in South East, West regions and Eastern region.
