Director of Administration in the ministry Victor Sandikonda has told Zodiak Online today Tuesday, when he toured the site that they are satisfied with the progress made despite a few challenges.

According to the contractor Patrick Mbalame of Pams and Malbolo joint venture, the project delayed for some months due to a number of issues which included late payment, erratic site meetings and supervision from the ministry.

But he assured the officers that if given all he require, he will complete the project in 45 days.

In response, Sandikonda said they have set up a special unit to be looking into such matters in a bid to deal with all bottlenecks affecting the project.

"We have seen that the contractor is on course and we believe that by December our officers will be able to occupy these houses," he said.

He further assured the men in uniform that his ministry is also planning to build some extra fifteen houses at the site to compliment the ten which are not enough for the 76 band of men in uniform present across the district.

In his remarks, Neno police Officer-in-Charge Edwin Magalasi has called for expedition of the houses saying 76 police officers are operating from rented houses which poses security threats.

He said that " It's not on to be operating from rented houses and this poses a serious security threat to both us and the community we serve. We tend to arrive late at crime scenes late in trying to regroup and respond".

These sentiments were also echoed by the outgoing Neno District Commissioner Hudson Kuphanga who asked the ministry to do all it can to provide the houses by the December set time frame.

Neno district has a small police unit which needs expansion, according to Edwin Magalasi, its Officer-in-Charge.
