Nigerians to Hold Diaspora Awards in Malawi

Nigerians living in Malawi will this month end of October hold a Nigerians in Diaspora Awards, (NIDA) 2023 at Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre to recognise outstanding and special individual’s in their community.

Briefing journalists in Blantyre on Tuesday, founder of the NIDA, Wilfred Uwagbae Adams, said the event slated for the 28 October, 2023 will also be graced by the Nigerian High Commissioner to Malawi Zahra Muazu Omar.

He said: “This is the second edition of the awards after the inaugural one held in Banjul, The Gambia in west Africa. The awards are aimed at appreciating Nigerians in different aspects of life like business, academia and other professions.”

He added that the night will be a red carpet event filled with glitz and glamour and paparazzi, where Nigerians will also be able to share their culture with Malawians through food and music.

“I also would like to thank the President of the Republic of Malawi Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for creating an enabling environment for doing business and peace, that we as Nigerians and others continue to enjoy, he said.

The remarks were also shared by chairpersons of the Nigerians community in Blantyre, Prince Emmke Bonaventure Uduchukwu who said, they will also continue to support Malawians through corporate social activities.

“We came in with support for Malawians in Phalombe that were affected by tropical #CycloneFreddy, in March this year, and we have more plans to support Malawians as we celebrate our work in Malawi for over 26 years,” said Uduchukwu.

His spokesperson, Bishop Akinola Fowowe believes the awards will unite the people.

“This event will attract Nigerians from all cities of Malawi who are going to be able to share their experiences and network,”

Golden Peacock sales and marketing executive Sandra Kumpukwe said the hotel is happy to offer the platform for this.
