PRISAM, Maranatha Bail Out Samson
Maranatha Academy, on request from the Private Schools Association of Malawi (PRISAM), has offered a full scholarship to Samson Phiri to further his study at the Academy.
Samson who is in Form 3 at St. Patrick’s Secondary School in Chiradzulu failed to foot his fees and his parents started asking for help from well-wishers.
During the Junior Certificate of Education examinations, he scored 6 As and 5 Bs in all the but failed to go back to school as he has to settle a total of K480, 000 with the school.
It was upon seeing his call for help on social media that PRISAM approached the Academy for help and the Academy’s director, Dr. Ernest Kaonga, accepted the request.
Dr Kaonga said that Samson will be under full scholarship courtesy of Maranatha Academy and PRISAM.
“We will pay his fees and other expenses. If he qualifies for public university, we will pay for him too. These are future leaders and we are here to support the government to have a well-educated nation,” said Kaonga.
PRISAM Vice President, Patricia Chisi, urged other schools who are members of PRISAM to emulate the Academy.
Emmanuel Phiri, Samson’s father, commended the institutions for coming in timely with the support.
