Some concerned communities in Phalombe have appealed to the Power utility body, Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) to establish an office in the district to cut costs which they incur when seeking services at Mulanje Boma.

The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) says it has lost about 400 transformers from January this year, owing to vandalism.

People of Kambale trade centre in Neno district and other parts of the country which have ESCOM transformer faults, will have to wait indefinitely as the power utility body is uncertain as to when it will have the transformers delivered to the affected areas.
