Police in Neno district have intercepted a vehicle suspected to be coming from South Africa carrying two Malawi nationals using uncharted routes.

Heavy rains coupled with strong winds on Thursday cut off road network and destroyed property worth millions of Kwacha in the area of Traditional Authority Symon in Neno district.

As schools are closed in the wake of Covid-19 outbreak, children being in the vulnerable group of people, are facing numerous abuses, ranging from infringement to the right to education, early pregnancies and marriages and taking over parental responsibilities at home.

In an effort to make Neno District accessible and intensify its participation in the development efforts of Malawi, friends of Neno have formed an advocacy group that is aiming at facilitating a speedy completion of the Mwanza, Neno Tsangano road.

People in Neno district, especially in the area of Traditional Authority (TA) Dambe, have asked parliament to review the Witchcraft Act in a bid to find lasting solutions on how to deal with witchcraft related issues.
