Mining Firm Withdraws Case Against Community

A Chinese mining firm which sued a community in which it is operating on obstruction to its right to economic activity has withdrawn the matter in court opting for mutual settlement.

The Mzuzu High Court has since dismissed the matter in which Illomba Granite Mining Company had issues with senior Kameme, concerned citizens and a civil rights NGO.

The mining company took the issue to court following concerns by the community that the company is failing to meet its social corporate responsibility.
