Clement Kafwafwa: Flames New Team Manager

The Football Association of Malawi has appointed Clement Kafwafwa as Team manager of the Senior Men’s National Team, the Flames.

Kafwafwa replaces James Sangala, who is FAM’s Youth Football Development Officer.

FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda said the move is one of the Association’s strategic restructuring processes and it will enable Sangala to concentrate more on enhancing FAM’s Youth Development prorammes.

“FAM noted that letting Sangala double as Youth Development Officer and Flames team manager, there would be a gap in the coordinating Youth Development programmes because the two roles demand commitment hence the need for a new team manager,” said Gunda.

Meanwhile Kafwafwa has since asked for more support from relevant stakeholders for him to be able to execute his duties for the benefit of the Flames.

“This is not an easy task that I have assumed and I know my predecessor was doing a wonderful job here, I hope all will be fine,” Said Kafwafwa.

However Sangala insisted that he will now focus on his role as FAM’s Youth Football Development Officer with the FIFA/FAM under 16 leagues for both boys and girls currently in progress.

“There are projects that we have already started implementing and this will give me time to concentrate on those projects," Sangala said.

Kafwafwa once served as the Flames Team manager between July 2015 and July 2016 under the then Coach Ernest Mtawali.
