Transfer Window to Open on 7 November

Jangale: We are waiting to hear from FIFA Jangale: We are waiting to hear from FIFA

Football Association of Malawi says it has written the world’s football governing body FIFA proposing for a two weeks transfer window before the kickoff of the 2020/21 season.

FAM’s transfers and compliance manager Casper Jangale told us today that they expect to open the transfer window on 7 November but awaits FIFA clearance.

“Prior to the suspension of football in the country (due to covid19 situation), we opened the window and teams had enough time to buy and offload players so we thought of just having a short transfer period.

“Two weeks will be enough but it all depends on clearance from FIFA and then communication will be made in due course to the teams over this issue.

Meanwhile, Jangale says players whose contracts expired prior to the suspension of games can make a move to any team.

“At the moment we can only allow players whose contracts expired before football lockdown to move because they are free agents but for those whose contracts expired after the suspension then that remains with the teams and the players to negotiate for an extension or not.

“But we can only advise them (players and clubs) to consider and agree on extending the contracts,” said Jangale.
