Speaking during the launch of First Capital Bank under 20 youth football league in Blantyre on Saturday, FAM President Walter Nyamilandu said will engage volunteer scouts and coaches to spot young talents that will eventually assist the senior national football team in future.

Nyamilandu says volunteer scouts and coaches are crucial in soon to be rolled out grassroot football program to identify rural talent.

"We want to roll out our grassroot football program in partnership with volunteer scouts and coaches to reach rural areas and have strong scouting system," Nyamilandu said.

He has called on more sponsors to emulate the gesture of First Capital Bank to develop the country's football games.

Meanwhile, First Capital Bank has launched a 40 million kwacha under 20 youth football league on 30th July 2022 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre to support FAM’ efforts.

The bank’s Chief Executive Officer Spiro Georgopoulos has assured FAM to continue sponsoring the under 20 youth football league in order to develop the game.

"The bank is committed to support grassroot football league in Malawi," he said.

First Capital Bank has been sponsoring the Under 20 Youth football league for 13 years.
