60 Year Old Man Robbed, Killed
A Sixty year old man from Nzondora village in the area of Traditional Authority Mbenje in Nsanje, identified as White Mwandire has been assaulted to death by unknown criminals who invaded his house last night.
The district’s Police Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Agnes Zalakoma says the suspected thugs robbed the man of clothes, one pedal bicycle, beddings and cash amounting to MK1.2 million in the process.
According to Sub Inspector Zalakoma, the thugs attacked the man and his wife who were sleeping on the verandah of their house together with their son aged five at around midnight and started assaulting them whilst demanding money.
“The man was pronounced dead upon arrival at Kalemba Rural Hospital and that his wife and the child, were referred to Nsanje District Hospital for further medical examinations and treatment.
“The criminals assaulted them and seriously wounded them before the robbery,” she said.
She said the matter was reported to Village Headman Nzondora who mobilized members of the village who facilitated to take the victims to Kalemba Rural Hospital.
The Nsanje Police Spokesperson told Zodiak Online, post mortem conducted at Kalemba Rural Hospital has revealed that the man died due to severe head injuries.
Meanwhile police have launched a manhunt for the suspected thugs.
Such cases have been rampant in the Shire Valley district.
