Pathologist, Dr. Charles Dzamalala says he needs two months to release results of DNA tests for a murdered standard 8 girl in Thyolo and her five suspected assailants.

Dr. Dzamalala has told Zodiak on Tuesday that the samples were submitted to a laboratory in South Africa last month since initially, there was no funding.

"The routine DNA test results normally take two weeks. However, these ones we are searching for DNA from several and trying to match, so I am very sure they will take up to two months," Dr. Dzamalala said.

Thyolo Police deputy spokesperson, Rabecca Kashoti, says they will wait for the results to commence the prosecution of the five.

The body of the 12-year-old girl who went missing after knocking off from Ntambanyama primary school in January this year, was found along the river bank, raped and strangled.

After that, police investigators and the family engaged a pathologist Dr. Charles Dzamalala to conduct DNA test on the body to match with the suspects later.

The suspects are, Dan Salijeni aged 27, Andrew Salijeni 29, Kilinani Kampondeni 26,  the trio from the area of Senior chief Khwethemule while Fretcher Selemani 24, from Matchuwana village  Senior chief Nchiramwera including another one who was arrested later.
