Among the schools were Mulanje, Thuchira, Chambe and Milonga Secondary Schools.

Four female student lawyers from the Catholic University - Talumba Thindwa, Grace Thambo, Mbachitemwa Mwentembela and Praise Yona - had an engagement with female students at Mulanje Secondary School.

AGE Africa District Officer for Mulanje Lucy Morris told Zodiak Online that women and girls have for a long time been subjected to injustices in their homes, communities, at school and at work hence organizing the meeting.

"The student lawyers also acted as role models for girls in secondary schools who are members of the Creating Healthy Approaches to Success (CHATS )," said Morris.

Speaking on behalf of the student lawyers, Mbachitemwa Mwentembela said time has come for women and girls to join forces in fighting against all gender inequalities.

"We've had enough of gender based violence and we should not allow anyone to abuse our human rights," said Mwentembela.

Form four student at Mulanje Secondary School Amina Lamba described the session as an eye-opener for their careers.

The discussions centered on the understanding of gender equality, gender justice, the rights of women and girls and gender based violence.
