RBM Challenges Clearing Agents

The Reserve Bank of Malawi has challenged professionals in the clearing and forwarding industry to upscale their services to help the government generate revenue.

Deputy Governor William Matambo, speaking in Mangochi at the annual general meeting for Indigenous Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents, said the group is very vital in facilitating economic stability in the country.

Vusi Chirwa, ICCAFA president said they are doing their part despite some challenges caused by middlemen and some organizations ignoring a directive by the government that Indigenous Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents should handle 60 percent of all clearing jobs.
