The officials have been fired for indiscipline after they attended a National Governing Council (NGC) Meeting in Lilongwe in December last year which the party says was held without the blessings of its leader.   

The party has also fired its publicity secretary and Mwanza central parliamentarian Nicholas Dausi, Zomba Chisi lawmaker Mark Botomani and NGC member Ken Nsonda.

Shadric Namalomba, who speaks for both the party and its President Peter Mutharika, confirmed the development on Saturday as having been made following the recent disciplinary hearings.

 One of the expelled members, Ken Nsonda, says the party has made a wrong decision, especially on firing some officials, saying the least it would have done was to suspend them.
