Masambanjati Police Investigate Granny Murder

Police at Masambanjati in Thyolo are yet to arrest assailants who killed a 62 year-old-woman, Eluby Chiwotcha after she received K150, 000 of Social Cash Transfer Program (SCTP) last week.

The police station's officer in-charge, Senior Superintendent George Kaleso said on Monday that the granny was strangled to death at Kotokhwa village, Traditional Authority Changata.

"We don't know how much she received for Mtukula Pakhomo but she was murdered after receiving social cash transfer money," Kaleso confirmed.

Zodiak Online has since established that following the incident, some angry villagers descended on the houses of suspected murderers, but Kaleso said no one has reported such fracas to the police.

"The incident of damage to property has not been reported to our formation and we are hearing it from you. So far, no one has been arrested for the murder but we are still working on identifying who did it," he said.
