Five Years Imprisonment for Defilement in Thyolo
Thyolo First Grade Magistrate Kondani Chinangwa has today ordered a 74-year-old man, Jarton Gadamika, to serve a five-year jail term for having a sexual encounter with a minor.
State prosecutor, Sub Inspector Felix Senzani, said in court that on the night of 26 December 2023, Gadamika slept with the 14-year-old-girl when she visited an outside toilet.
Senzani said it was the victim's elder sister who found the two in the toilet.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge and asked for leniency.
However, Senzani prayed for a stiffer punishment to deter other would-be offenders.
Gadamika hails from Mzundu village, Traditional Authority Nsabwe in the district.
