Patience Zamar Phiri, candidate for President of the Students’ Representative Council (MSRC) at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) says he is working on a K300 million Student Welfare Kitchens Project.
Phiri told Zodiak today that the initiative aims to establish kitchens both on-campus and off-campus to improve student welfare and provide accessible and affordable meals.
"I am running on a platform focused on action and implementation. Rather than making promises, I am already engaging stakeholders, partners, and philanthropists to establish initiatives that will directly benefit students, Phiri said.
The fourth-year Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (Hons) student, says once elected, he will also focus on sanitation improvements, student innovation platforms, and strengthening student representation through practical and sustainable solutions.
Phiri is facing Pemphero Chikondi in the MSRC elections which is scheduled to take place on 24 April 2026.
