Chitipa Rotary Club Formed

Rotary International on Saturday launched Chitipa Rotary Club at an event held in Chitipa District.

Speaking at the event, Rotary Club District Governor for Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique Gabriel Chipara urged members of the newly formed club to be willing and always be available to serve the vulnerable.

Chipara said with the coming of the club, people's expectations are that more charity works will be done in the district.

"Looking at the number of members already at Chitipa Rotary Club, it's a sign of more fun to come, more connections to be made and most importantly a sign of more charity to be done," said Chipara.

Chipara encouraged the newly elected Executive Committee members of the club to implement ambitious projects while at the same time growing its membership.

In his acceptance speech, newly elected President for Chitipa Rotary Club Isaac Mkandawire pleaded with the club’s members to be dedicated, committed and available to do charity work.

"Rotary Club is about service. Therefore, with commitment, dedication and our availability, we will achieve more. Remember, for us, failure is not an option," he said.

In his remarks, Senior Chief Mwaulambya, who graced the occasion, said it is good that more charity clubs are establishing themselves in the district, adding that this is giving hope that more development projects will be conducted in the district.

"It is good that more service clubs are coming here. Remember we already have a Lions Club in the district. And I, being a Lion myself, know the importance of service clubs such as Rotary Club. This gives hope for more development in Chitipa," said the senior chief.

During the event, 26 members were inducted into the Chitipa Rotary Club and an executive committee to run the club for the 2023/2024 period.
