Woman Arrested for Suspected Murder of a Sister in Thyolo
Police in Thyolo have arrested 22-year old Chikondi Samera from Magombo village, Senior Chief Nchiramwera in connection to the murder case of her younger sister, Mwai Phiri aged 12 at a rest house Monday night.
The district's police deputy spokesperson, Sergeant Rabecca Kashoti alleges that the suspect convinced her to go to the guest house where she stabbed her on the navel multiple times then dragged her body under the bed before she fled home.
"She went there around 1900 hours and left around 2000 hours. When the owner of the guesthouse went to close the room, he saw blood on the bed which led to the discovery of the body under the mattress," Kashoti said.
However, Kashoti said police cannot disclose now where the suspect is being held and the motive behind the gruesome murder as investigation is in progress.
Meanwhile, cousin for the two, Dorothy Moffat has told Zodiak that there was no any disagreement between the two and that the suspect had no mental problems.
After the incident on Tuesday, some people from Magombo village stormed the Thyolo police station to seek answers on the gruesome murder of the girl.
In January this year, the similar incident also happened in the district where one other 12-year old girl was defiled and murdered at Ntambanyama on her way from school.
