The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has imposed strong disciplinary measures on Creck Sporting Club and three of its players following violent off-the-ball incidents during their Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal second-leg match against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Nankhaka Stadium.
Players Miracle Gabeya, Hadji Wali, and George Chaomba have been handed bans and red cards for various acts of unsporting behaviour. The club itself has been fined K1 million for failing to prevent the misconduct.
According to FAM’s disciplinary committee, the actions of the three players were in breach of Articles 23.3 and 23.4 of the 2025 Airtel Top 8 Rules and Regulations, as well as Article 14.1 (l) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
Chaomba has been given two-match ban and a straight red card for elbowing Henry Chiwaya off the ball.
Wali has been handed a four-match ban and a red card for stepping on the hand and leg of Maxwell Phodo while Gabeya has received a three-match ban and a red card for stepping on Babatunde Adepoju’s hand.
Creck Sporting Club was also fined K1 million for failing to control its players and ensure proper conduct during the match.
During the disciplinary process, before the final determination was made, Creck Sporting Club denied the charges.
In a response letter signed by General Secretary Aaron Kandiwo Mtaya, the club argued that all on-field incidents were handled by match referee Godfrey Nkhakananga and as such, it believed no further disciplinary action was necessary.
Despite the club’s early objections, FAM proceeded with the disciplinary process, ultimately finding both the club and the players guilty of misconduct.
