The Matapwata Alumni Association has officially launched its network under the theme “Giving Back, Keeping Matapwata Spirit Alive,” marking a new chapter of unity and purpose among former students determined to uplift their alma mater.
The association’s primary goal is to support current learners through mentorship, career guidance, and the provision of learning materials, ensuring that no student’s dream fades due to lack of support.
Speaking after the launch Thursday, Agnes Mtonga, Chairperson of the Matapwata Board of Governors, commended the alumni for their initiative, describing it as an inspiring gesture of solidarity and gratitude.
“This is a remarkable step by our former students. You are setting an example of what it means to give back and to keep the Matapwata spirit alive. Together, we can transform the lives of many young learners,” she said.
On her part, Alumni Chairperson Elizabeth Joao reaffirmed the association’s commitment to continue empowering students and urged more former learners to join the cause.
She emphasized, “Our journey does not end when we leave Matapwata. We have a responsibility to those coming after us. Let’s stand together to ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn and succeed".
As part of the launch activities, ten outstanding students were recognized and rewarded with school supplies, including exercise books, pens, and sanitary pads for girls — a gesture aimed at motivating academic excellence and supporting education equity.
One of the beneficiaries, Andrey Nangomo, expressed gratitude on behalf of fellow students.
The event not only celebrated academic success but also rekindled the bond between past and present students, a living testament that the Matapwata spirit of excellence and unity continues to thrive.
