A woman identified as Patience Khembo has been killed in a road accident that happened at Chifunga area along Mwanza - Zalewa M6 road in Neno District on Sunday.

Neno District Police publicist Rebecca Msoliza has told Zodiak Online today, Monday, that, Khembo (now deceased) was driving a motor vehicle 'Toyota Axio saloon' registration number BLK 9589 from the direction of Zalewa heading to Mwanza district.

Msoliza said "Upon arrival at Chifunga area near Neno turn-off, Khembo lost control of her vehicle and swerved to the right lane where she collided head on with an articulated motor vehicle 'Man' registration number ADC0100/ACZ 9613 which was coming from the opposite direction."

Following the impact, Khembo sustained a fractured right upper leg and arm and was rushed to Mwanza District Hospital by well wishers where she died whilst receiving treatment and the truck driver escaped unhurt. 

The police further said the motor vehicle had its front part extensively damaged while the truck had both its front tyres deflated and front part damaged.

The deceased hailed from Lolo village in the area of Traditional Authority Nanseta in Thyolo district.
