As Malawi joins the globe in commemorating World AIDS Day, Malamulo Adventist University–Thyolo Campus is today conducting awareness and wellness activities alongside a fees mobilization drive for needy students.
The institution has organized a Big Walk from its Makwasa campus in Makwasa to Thyolo Boma, where a health expo will take place featuring HIV and AIDS services, mental health support, and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) screening.
Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, Florence Chipungu, says AIDS remains a major public health threat and is urging communities to prioritize testing and healthy lifestyles.
“AIDS remains a significant health threat,” said Chipungu.
“We are encouraging everyone to get tested, know their status, and adopt healthy habits that promote long and productive lives.”
Dean of Students Affairs, Harvey Mhango says that the fees mobilization drive is aimed at supporting needy but deserving students.
“At least 50 students need fees. Currently, about 15 have dropped out. We want to ensure that financial challenges do not deny our students access to quality education. This initiative will help us keep more young people in school,” he said.
