Police at Masambanjati in Thyolo have arrested two men Joseph Nanjiri 24, and Blessings Minthenga 23, for robbery.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Amos Banda says on 12th of this month, the victim who is a motorcyle operator named Blessings James aged 24 years of Namuthakoni village Traditional Authority Mpama in Chiradzulu was hired by the duo from Bangwe to Thekelani, Thyolo where they wanted to visit a traditional healer.
"Upon arrival at Thekelani at around 1800hrs they all crossed to Mozambique leaving the motorcycle at Thekelani.
On their return to Thekerani, the suspects assaulted the transporter leaving him unconscious; and when he regained consciousness he discovered that all his belongings which include Itel phone A60, cash amounting to K70,000 and the motorcycle, King Boss type, Red in color were all stolen from him," Banda said.
The victim went to a nearby house where well wishers took him to Thekelani Mission Hospital for treatment. He later reported the matter to Masambanjati police, who upon visiting the scene and conducting inquiries arrested the two suspects and recovered the motorcycle.
Suspects are in police custody pending court proceedings.
Nanjiri hails from Mtunduwatha village, Traditional Authority Nsabwe in Thyolo while Mithenga hails from Matewere village, Traditional authority Mabuka in Mulanje.
