Central Poultry has recently launched the Maziko Program, a new education initiative supporting rural primary schools with solar lights and learning materials.
The program -whose name means foundation -was rolled out at Kanjoka and Dunda Primary Schools in Traditional Authority Njombwa, Kasungu. It aims to boost learning outcomes by tackling challenges that limit students’ progress.
Twenty top-performing learners in Standards 7 and 8 received solar lighting kits to help them study at night, addressing the lack of electricity in many homes.
Central Poultry’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Jessica Lonjezo Kadzakumanja, said the initiative is “an investment in the nation’s future,” adding that the company is committed to building “sustainable communities through quality education.”
Headteacher for Dunda Primary School, Aaron Nkhoma, praised the gesture, saying, “Many of our learners struggle to study after dark. These solar kits will allow them to read and prepare for exams without worrying about light.”
Kanjoka Primary School, Ronomy Chunga said the support is timely. “This program gives our students motivation and hope. It shows that the private sector can play a vital role in improving education in rural areas,” he said.
The Maziko Program is part of Central Poultry’s broader commitment to supporting education, health, and community development across Malawi.
