Bushiri Extradition Case Fails to Proceed Thursday

The High Court in Lilongwe on Thursday failed to proceed to hearing of oral arguments from the defense and the prosecution in the extradition case involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary.

Lawyer for the Bushiri's, Wapona Kita says this is due to a delay in the transfer of documents from the lower court which had earlier ruled that the Bushiri's should be extradited back to South Africa.

He says the files are currently being photocopied to be distributed to all parties and they are waiting for the court to give them a new date.
The case was coming for the hearing of an appeal where the defense wanted the court to reverse the decision by the lower court.

"The files from the magistrate court have been delayed to come to the high court, hene the delay to proceed with the case. However, as we're talking the files are being photocopied to be distributed to all of us," said Kita.

Bushiri is wanted by South African authorities to be prosecuted over several accusations.
